Sam Konstas part of Australia A squad vs India A

Cricket Australia have named their A squads for the upcoming tour to India. They are scheduled to play two four-day games and three one-day matches in this tour.

The board has named a promising squad with the likes of Sam Konstas and Jake Fraser McGurk included. It will be the first Australia A tour for many of these players and it is expected to be an enriching experience.

Cricket Australia have planned this A tour with an eye on preparations for their tour to India in early 2027. Both squads have several Test players and players who are expected to be part of Australia’s ODI and T20I side going ahead.

Australia A Gearing Up For India Tour In Testing Conditions

Todd Murphy, part of Australia’s four-day squad, has played Test cricket in India previously, while Jake Fraser McGurk, part of the white-ball side, has played IPL cricket in India for Delhi Capitals. Players like Scott Boland, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Matthew Kuhnemann and Sean Abbott have not been picked for the A tour. Meanwhile, Sam Konstas, who played earlier this year against India is part of the four-day squad.

The two four-day games will be played from September 16-19 and September 23-27 in Lucknow. The ODI matches will be played on September 30, October 3 and 5 respectively in Kanpur.

Australia’s chief selector and former skipper George Bailey, spoke about choosing the particular squads and giving them exposure to playing in Indian conditions. Both Kanpur and Lucknow will assist the spinners and Bailey hopes this to be a learning curve for the players.

"The subcontinent provides many unique challenges and the opportunity to utilise different skills with bat and ball. We hope repeated experiences in these conditions will assist players in developing an effective method and understanding of their game for future subcontinent tours” selection chief George Bailey said.
"For many of these players we remain interested in the development of their short-form cricket as well, but balancing out priorities meant we wanted them back and available for the start of the Sheffield Shield season” he further added.
