Women's T20 World Cup 2026: Teams Divided into 2 Groups, Fixtures Announced

This will be the first time a Women’s T20 World Cup features 12 teams. Top eight sides, including Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, have already secured their spots. The remaining four teams will join through a global qualifying tournament to be held in early 2026

India find themselves in Group 1, where they’ll face familiar foes in Australia and Pakistan. The group also features South Africa, last year’s runners-up, along with two more sides that will qualify later.

Defending champions New Zealand have been placed in Group 2, which also includes tournament hosts England, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and two teams that will come through the qualifying rounds.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.

One of the most anticipated matches of the tournament, India versus Pakistan, will take place on June 14 at Edgbaston.

"The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup provides us with an unparalleled opportunity to transform a month of sporting excellence into a movement that will rewrite the narrative about women’s cricket," Tournament Director Beth Barrett-Wild said as quoted in the ICC release.
"At iconic venues across the country, we’ll see incredible, world-class athletes battling it out in out in front of hundreds of thousands of fans, who with every ball bowled and run scored, will be contributing to lasting change. It’s our opportunity to give women’s cricket, and women’s sport, the stage it deserves," she added.
