Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from November 27 to December 23, 2025.
The tournament will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy and Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla. The announcement was made via an official media release on August 1 by the cricket board.
With less than four months to go, the SLC has locked in the window with the aim of giving players adequate exposure in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka.

Two Teams Yet to Confirm Ownership Ahead of the 2025 Season of LPL
While the league dates and venues are confirmed, two teams are still without official owners. Jaffna Kings and Colombo Strikers had their contracts terminated by Sri Lanka Cricket earlier this year. The board said both teams failed to meet their contract requirements.
Jaffna Kings were one of the most successful teams in the league, having won four out of five titles. Colombo had been a regular part of the league too. Now, both teams will have new owners for the upcoming season. As things stand, no current team has ownership dating back beyond 2024.
Sri Lanka Cricket is expected to announce the new owners in the coming weeks.

History of Lanka Premier League
The Lanka Premier League started in 2020. It was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been held every year since.
In its five seasons so far, Jaffna Kings have won four titles. Kandy Falcons, previously called B-Love Kandy, won the 2023 edition.
The LPL has become an important part of Sri Lanka’s domestic calendar and this year’s tournament will be important as the team prepares for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
